Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) are the leading causes of hepatic fibrosis liver-related mortality worldwide, despite efficient hepatitis B C antiviral therapies that have dramatically lowered load. Although significant efforts been exerted to understand molecular basis pathogenesis, there currently few therapeutic alternatives available for NAFLD-associated fibrosis. Thus, NAFLD prevention is critical before development disease-related complications. In this context, a tremendous substantial global burden on public health systems actively search effective preventive targets NAFLD. review, we highlight current strategies prevent progression poor outcomes avoid complications associated with fibrosis, notably cirrhosis, portal hypertension, cancer.
